Wadi Rum (Valley of the Moon) is located at the far south of Jordan, positioned on a high hill at the western verge of the Arabian Desert. The several inscriptions are found in four different scripts, Thamudic, Nabataean, Islamic and Arabic. This proves the extended literacy among the Arabian Peninsula.

The 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia featured the magic of Wadi Rum to the whole world, attracting constant regiments of tourists and an increasing number of further film crews. During 2015, The Martian the movie was filmed in this beautiful village. The stunning village is the second important attraction in Jordan following Petra.
